Anna Moll am Schreibsekretär
Bibliografie
"Soon after moving into his Hohe Warte house, Moll painted a group of canvases depicting his wife in reform clothing in their new home. All of the works in the series are marked by a sense of domestic tranquility, achieved through a careful balance of color and diffuse light. For example Anna Moll, am Schreibtisch sitzend, ca. 1903, shows his wife Anna at her writing desk. In this work, a partial view of the garden outside their window and the row of flowers on the sill emphasizes the importance of bringing the exterior into the interior living environment. According to Hoffmann´s biographer Eduard Sekler, `these homes were meant to provide the setting for a way of life that was shaped by a claim to artistic self-realization and by what were recogniszed as the binding norms of a society that still had a clear hierarchical structure.´" (Janis Staggs, The Inside: A Female Realm, Abandoning the Corset to Express Individual Character, in: Ausst.
